From Equilibrium to Transport Properties of Strongly Correlated Fermi Liquids

چکیده

We summarize recent results regarding the equilibrium and non-equilibrium behavior of cold dilute atomic gases in the limit in which the two body scattering length a goes to infinity. In this limit the system is described by a Galilean invariant (non-relativistic) conformal field theory. We discuss the low energy effective lagrangian appropriate to the limit a → ∞, and compute low energy coefficients using an ǫ-expansion. We also show how to combine the effective lagrangian with kinetic theory in order to compute the shear viscosity, and compare the kinetic theory predictions to experimental results extracted from the damping of collective modes in trapped Fermi gases.

Electronic transport in Si and Au monoatomic chains considering strongly correlation effect, a first principle study

We have investigated structure and electronic properties of Au and Si liner chains using the firstprinciplesplane wave pseudopotential method. The transport properties and conductance of these twoliner chains are studied using Landauer approaches based on density functional theory (DFT). Weobtain density of states and band gap using Kohn-Sham and Wannier functions as well as quantumconductivity...

Physical Properties of Metals from a Renormalization Group Standpoint

We derive the equilibrium and transport properties of metals using renormalization group equations and finite-size scaling. Particular attention is given to the well-known cases of Fermi and Luttinger liquids. An important subtlety is that the temperature dependence of many transport coefficients is determined by “dangerous” irrelevant operators. We also characterize violations of Fermi or Lutt...

خواص ساختاری و الکترونی بلور سریم حاصل از محاسباتLDA+U

In this work structural, electronic and magnetic properties of alpha and gamma phases of cerium crystal have been calculated by means of the LDA and LDA+U methods. The equilibrium volume and magnetic moment obtained from the GGA approximation in agreement with the experiment are equal to 27.64 Å3 and 0.00018 µB, respectively. This agreement shows that the 4f electrons in alpha phase are itiner...

Anomalous transport phenomena in Fermi liquids with strong magnetic fluctuations

In this paper, we present a recent developments in the theory of transport phenomena based on the Fermi liquid theory. In conventional metals, various transport coefficients are scaled according to the quasiparticles relaxation time, τ , which implies that the relaxation time approximation (RTA) holds well. However, such a simple scaling does not hold in many strongly correlated electron system...

آرام کردن مایع فرمی: جدال با علامتهای فرمیونی غیر مستقیم

The fermion sign problem is studied in the path integral formalism. The standard picture of Fermi liquids is first critically analyzed, pointing out some of its rather peculiar properties. The insightful work of Ceperley in constructing fermionic path integrals in terms of constrained world-lines is then reviewed. In this representation, the minus signs associated with Fermi-Dirac statistics a...
